The much-anticipated tri-nation music event “Indie Fest”, featuring artists from Bangladesh, India, and Pakistan, has been officially rescheduled following its earlier cancellation due to delays in administrative approval.
Originally planned for 24 April at Courtside, 100 Feet Madani Avenue in Dhaka, the concert was called off at the eleventh hour despite ticket sales having already commenced. Organisers, Twenty Communications, have now confirmed that the event will take place at the same venue on 8 May after receiving the necessary clearance from relevant authorities.
The festival is being seen as a significant cultural revival, marking the return of large-scale international concerts in Bangladesh after a prolonged hiatus. Over recent months, several similar initiatives had been announced but subsequently cancelled, largely due to security concerns and procedural complications related to official permissions.

The rescheduled Indie Fest also signals a cautious return of international live music events in Dhaka. In the previous winter season, several high-profile concerts were announced featuring artists such as Jal, Kaavish, Atif Aslam, Ali Azmat, and Anuv Jain. However, all of these shows were ultimately cancelled due to a lack of final administrative clearance and security-related concerns.
Notably, Pakistani artists Atif Aslam and Ali Azmat had already arrived in Dhaka at the time of their scheduled performances but were unable to take the stage. While official concerts did not proceed, both artists later participated in private musical engagements during their visit.
With the new approval in place, organisers of Indie Fest are hopeful that the upcoming event will proceed without disruption, offering audiences a long-awaited opportunity to experience live cross-border musical collaboration in the capital.
