Rajasthan Royals secured a 30-run victory over Mumbai Indians at the Wankhede Stadium, claiming the fourth and final available spot in the Indian Premier League (IPL) playoff stages. Entering their final group-stage fixture under absolute pressure to win, the franchise led by Riyan Parag advanced to the knockouts largely due to an exceptional all-round display from England international Jofra Archer, who excelled with both bat and ball.
The result confirmed the elimination of Punjab Kings and Kolkata Knight Riders from the tournament. Had the Royals succumbed to defeat against Mumbai, both chasing franchises would have retained a mathematical opportunity to qualify for the top-four bracket.
After losing the toss and being sent in to bat by Mumbai Indians captain Hardik Pandya, Rajasthan Royals lost wickets at regular intervals, but still managed to set a highly competitive target.
The individual statistical metrics and performance outputs from the group-stage fixture are structured in the table below:
| Active Player (Team) | Batting Contribution | Bowling Figures | Impact Summary |
| Dhruv Jurel (RR) | 38 runs (26 balls) | N/A | Top-scored for the starting line-up |
| Dasun Shanaka (RR) | 29 runs (21 balls) | N/A | Secured stable middle-order runs |
| Yashasvi Jaiswal (RR) | 27 runs (17 balls) | N/A | Provided a rapid opening foundation |
| Jofra Archer (RR) | 32 runs (15 balls) | 4 overs, 3 wickets for 17 runs | Named Player of the Match |
| Suryakumar Yadav (MI) | 60 runs (42 balls) | N/A | Registered the highest score of the match |
| Hardik Pandya (MI) | 34 runs (15 balls) | N/A | Accelerated the middle-order chase |
| Will Jacks (MI) | 33 runs (18 balls) | N/A | Provided a stable counter-attacking knock |
The Rajasthan batting unit faced early resistance from the Mumbai bowling attack, though opening batsman Yashasvi Jaiswal managed a quickfire 27, and Dasun Shanaka chipped in with 29. Wicketkeeper-batsman Dhruv Jurel anchored the middle section of the innings, top-scoring for the side with a disciplined 38 runs off 26 deliveries.
The defining moment of the first innings arrived when Jofra Archer came to the crease during the closing overs. Archer completely transformed the momentum, striking a crucial, unbeaten 32 runs from just 15 balls to lift the team’s total.
Mumbai Indians faced severe disruption at the start of their run chase during the Powerplay overs. Opening the bowling for the Royals, Archer struck immediately, picking up two critical wickets in his first and third overs. His early breakthroughs forced the dismissals of Ryan Rickelton and Tilak Varma before the conclusion of the six-over restriction period.
Despite losing early wickets, Mumbai attempted a comeback via a half-century from Suryakumar Yadav, who scored a team-high 60 runs off 42 deliveries. He was supported by Will Jacks (33) and Hardik Pandya (34).
However, Rajasthan’s bowlers successfully suppressed the late-order hitting. Archer returned to the attack to finish his spell with highly economical figures of three wickets for 17 runs, while three of his bowling teammates claimed two wickets apiece. This collective effort restricted Mumbai well short of the requirement, securing Rajasthan’s postseason ambitions.
