The Kremlin expressed hope on Wednesday that United States President Donald Trump’s allegation regarding a supposed conspiracy involving the leaders of Russia, China, and North Korea was intended humorously rather than seriously.

Speaking to Russian state television, Kremlin aide Yuri Ushakov commented on Trump’s claim: “I think not without irony, he said that these three are allegedly plotting against the United States.”

Ushakov was responding to a social media post in which Trump alleged that Russian President Vladimir Putin, Chinese President Xi Jinping, and North Korean leader Kim Jong Un had convened in Beijing with the purpose of conspiring against Washington.

Trump’s post emerged amid heightened tensions in global geopolitics, where relations between the United States and the three nations in question have been strained over:

CountryMain Point of Tension with the US
RussiaOngoing war in Ukraine and accusations of election interference.
ChinaTrade disputes, military activities in the South China Sea, and tensions over Taiwan.
North KoreaNuclear weapons programme and repeated ballistic missile tests.

Although Trump did not provide further evidence of such a meeting or plot, his remark quickly drew international attention, prompting the Kremlin to adopt a dismissive tone, framing the allegation as potentially satirical.
