Expressing sympathy for her opponent, Sabalenka wrote on social media: “So sorry for Marketa after all she’s been through. She has been playing amazing tennis and I know how badly this must hurt for her.”
This development secures Sabalenka a spot in the last four without playing her quarter-final, keeping her on course to defend her US Open title.
