A fatal road traffic accident involving a head-on collision between two motorcycles resulted in the death of a 20-year-old Higher Secondary Certificate (HSC) candidate in the Sakhipur upazila of Tangail district. The collision occurred on the evening of Thursday, 28 May 2026—the day of the national Eid-ul-Azha festival—in the Kachua Pukurpar area along the Sakhipur–Sagardighi regional road.
The deceased student was identified as Kamran Ahmed, also known as Kanan, the son of Rezaul Karim from Jiteshwari village within the upazila. Ahmed was enrolled at Major General Mahmudul Hasan College in Tangail and was scheduled to sit for the upcoming nationwide HSC examinations.
According to local sources, Ahmed left his residence on Eid afternoon, operating his father’s motorcycle. He was accompanied by his paternal cousin, Mohammad Ashik, who joined him as a pillion rider for a holiday excursion.
As they reached the Kachua Pukurpar locality, their vehicle collided head-on with another motorcycle advancing from the opposite direction. The physical impact caused severe injuries to all riders involved. Local residents arrived at the crash site immediately to initiate emergency rescue operations, extracting the casualties from the roadway and transferring them to the nearest public medical institution.
The verified technical parameters, casualty profiles, and administrative details recorded from the incident are structured in the table below:

Upon arrival at the Sakhipur Upazila Health Complex, the attending medical staff conducted a clinical assessment of the primary casualty. Dr Mostafa Kamal, the medical officer on duty within the emergency department, confirmed that Kamran Ahmed had sustained fatal trauma during the collision impact.
“The patient, Kamran Ahmed, was completely unresponsive upon arrival at the triage area,” Dr Kamal reported. “Clinical evaluations confirmed that his biological death had occurred prior to his physical admission into the hospital facility.”
The collision also resulted in multiple injuries to the two surviving riders. Ahmed’s cousin, Mohammad Ashik, and the operator of the opposing motorcycle, identified as Shafiqul Islam, sustained substantial physical injuries. Both survivors were formally admitted to the wards of the Sakhipur Upazila Health Complex, where they remain under continuous medical observation.
Reflecting on the student’s academic background, his teacher, Tofael Ahmed, noted that Kamran had previously achieved a Grade Point Average of 5.00 (GPA-5) during his Secondary School Certificate (SSC) examinations. The academic faculty and his family had anticipated a similarly high performance in his upcoming college-level finals. Ahmed remarked that the sudden loss of the young student had completely transformed the festive holiday atmosphere into a period of profound mourning for the local village community.
