A tragic accident in Akhaura, Brahmanbaria District, claimed the life of a one-year-old boy, Ryan Mia, on Thursday morning. The incident occurred around 8:30 a.m. in the town’s Devgram area, leaving the local community in shock.
Ryan, the son of Sattar Mia, reportedly fell into a water-filled bucket at his home. According to neighbours and local sources, the toddler had been playing inside the house when he inadvertently leaned into the bucket, causing him to fall headfirst into the water.
Family members and nearby residents immediately rushed the child to the Akhaura Upazila Health Complex, but despite swift medical attention, the on-duty medical staff declared him dead on arrival.
Dr. Md. Lutfur Rahman, the Resident Medical Officer (RMO) at the health complex, confirmed that the child was brought to the hospital in a lifeless state. “All attempts to revive him were unsuccessful,” he stated. “The family reported that he had accidentally fallen into a bucket of water at home.”
This tragic incident has raised renewed concerns among locals regarding child safety in homes, particularly around containers filled with water, which can pose a severe drowning hazard for young children. Residents urged parents to remain vigilant and supervise toddlers closely, especially in domestic settings.
For clarity, the key details of the incident are summarised below:
| Victim’s Name | Age | Location | Incident Time | Cause of Death |

| Ryan Mia | 1 year | Devgram, Akhaura, Brahmanbaria | 08:30 a.m., 12 March 2026 | Drowning in water bucket |
Community members expressed profound grief over the loss. “Ryan was a lively child, and this sudden accident has devastated his family,” said a neighbour. Authorities reminded households to take extra precautions, highlighting that even shallow water in buckets or containers can be fatal for infants and toddlers.
The family and neighbours continue to mourn the untimely death of the young child, emphasising the importance of child safety in everyday domestic life.
