Late actor Rishi Kapoor, one of the brightest stars of Indian cinema, is once again in the spotlight, not for his films this time, but for his heartfelt words about Alia Bhatt, his would-be daughter-in-law. These comments have resurfaced recently, as many remembered him on Alia Bhatt’s birthday, bringing back fond memories of his admiration for her.

Although Rishi Kapoor entered films through the prestigious Kapoor family legacy, he carved his own niche with sheer talent and charisma. Loved by generations of audiences, he was equally candid when it came to his son Ranbir Kapoor’s relationships, often sharing his thoughts openly.

  • Reports suggest that Neetu Kapoor (Ranbir’s mother) had reservations about his earlier relationship with actress Katrina Kaif.
  • In contrast, the family welcomed Alia Bhatt warmly.
  • Both Rishi and Neetu Kapoor admired Alia, with Rishi being particularly captivated by her acting brilliance.

In a 2018 interview, Rishi Kapoor was asked about the younger generation of actors and who impressed him most. Without hesitation, he named Alia Bhatt.

He remarked: “One must appreciate an actress like Alia Bhatt, who has delivered extraordinary performances in challenging roles such as in Highway and Raazi. At such a young age, to carry the weight of an entire film on her shoulders is no small feat. Only a truly talented actor can achieve this. Moreover, landing such roles also requires a stroke of luck. Alia is both fortunate and immensely gifted.”

These words reflected not only his admiration but also his deep respect for Alia’s craft.

At the time of Rishi Kapoor’s glowing praise, Ranbir and Alia’s romance was just beginning.

  • Their relationship blossomed over nearly five years.
  • Sadly, Rishi Kapoor passed away in 2020 before he could witness their union.
  • In 2022, two years after his passing, Ranbir Kapoor and Alia Bhatt tied the knot in an intimate ceremony, fulfilling the love story that Rishi had once spoken of with pride.
