A 41-year-old woman, Ramra Marma, was found dead in the kitchen of her home in Borobil, Manikchhari Upazila, Khagrachhari, on Tuesday morning. Police recovered her bloodied body from her own residence in Ward No. 6 of Batnatali Union, prompting an investigation into the circumstances surrounding her death.
Ramra Marma was a mother of four children—three sons and one daughter. According to her daughter, Anuma Marma, a college student, the previous evening had appeared normal. “Around 10:00 pm on Monday, my mother and I had dinner and went to sleep in our bedroom. The next morning, I woke at about 7:30 am and realised my mother was missing. I immediately began searching for her,” Anuma stated.
Her search led her to the kitchen, where she noticed a blanket covering a bed. At first, she saw no one, but when she removed the blanket, she discovered her mother’s body, which showed clear signs of head and neck trauma. Shocked by the gruesome sight, Anuma called for help, attracting neighbours to the scene. Police were notified and arrived promptly to recover the body.
Md. Al Amin, Officer-in-Charge (Investigation) of Manikchhari Police Station, confirmed the recovery of the body. He added, “Preliminary assessments indicate this may be a case of homicide. A full legal investigation is underway to determine the circumstances and identify the perpetrator.”
The incident has shocked the local community and raised concerns about safety within households. Authorities are urging anyone with relevant information to come forward to assist in the ongoing investigation.
