Headmaster Gets Life Imprisonment in Case of Kidnapping and Raping Student

The headmaster of a school in Natore has been convicted by the court and sentenced to rigorous life imprisonment for the kidnapping and subsequent rape of a tenth-grade student. In addition to the life sentence for rape, he has been handed a further 14 years in prison for the crime of kidnapping the student.

The verdict was pronounced on Tuesday afternoon by Judge Moha. Mohiduzzaman of the Speedy Trial Tribunal in Rajshahi.

The convicted individual is named Firoz Ahmed, the headmaster of a girls’ school in Gurudaspur Upazila, Natore. The accused was present in the court dock when the verdict was announced and was later taken to Rajshahi Central Jail.

According to court sources, on October 1, 2022, Headmaster Firoz Ahmed kidnapped the tenth-grade student from the school’s main gate, luring her with the promise of better grades. He took her to a relative’s house in Rajshahi and raped her. The victim was found the following day in Gurudaspur Upazila, Natore.

Following the incident, the student’s mother filed a case under the Women and Children Repression Prevention Act against teacher Firoz Ahmed and two other individuals. After investigation, the police submitted a charge sheet against all three to the Natore court. However, during the framing of charges, the judge acquitted two of the accused. The case was later transferred to the Rajshahi Speedy Trial Tribunal for quick disposal.

Munshi Abul Kalam Azad, the State Counsel for the Tribunal, stated, “The court announced the verdict based on all the evidence and information. Justice has been established through this verdict, and we are satisfied.”

However, while being taken from the court to the jail, Firoz Ahmed expressed his outrage over the verdict. He repeatedly stated that the case was not accurate and that he had been denied justice.
