In a decisive outcome in the 13th national parliamentary elections, the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) has claimed victory in all four constituencies of Laxmipur District, underscoring the party’s strong foothold in the region. The results, which have been closely watched across the country, reflect a significant preference for BNP candidates over their competitors from Jamaat-e-Islami and the 11-party alliance.
In Laxmipur-1 (Ramganj), Shahadat Hossain Selim of BNP emerged victorious with 85,457 votes, comfortably defeating his nearest rival, Mahbub Alam of the Nationalist-Centric 11-Party Alliance (NCP), who secured 56,437 votes.
The Laxmipur-2 constituency, covering Raypur and parts of Sadar, saw a tight contest between Abul Khair Bhuiya of BNP and SUM Ruhul Amin Bhuiya of Jamaat-e-Islami. Bhuiya won with 145,913 votes, outpacing Ruhul Amin Bhuiya, who received 134,042 votes, highlighting the constituency’s competitive nature.
In Laxmipur-3 (Sadar), Shahid Uddin Chowdhury Annie secured the seat for BNP with 133,765 votes, defeating Jamaat’s Rezaul Karim, who obtained 117,779 votes. This margin reflects a strong but contested support base for BNP in the district capital.
Finally, in Laxmipur-4 (Ramgati and Kamalnagar), BNP’s Ashraf Uddin Nizan captured the seat with 114,026 votes, significantly ahead of AR Hafiz Ullah of Jamaat, who polled 70,765 votes, demonstrating a commanding lead in the coastal constituencies.
