A 50-year-old farmer tragically died after suddenly falling ill while waiting in a queue to refuel his motorcycle at a petrol station in Dinajpur’s Khansama upazila, northern Bangladesh.
The deceased, identified as Masud Rana, son of Mofiz Uddin of Sothipara in Darowani area under Sonaray Union of Nilphamari Sadar upazila, had travelled to the station on Monday afternoon to collect fuel. He was reportedly standing near the entrance of the filling station when the incident occurred.
According to witnesses, a large number of motorcyclists—estimated at over two hundred—had gathered at the Umar Faruq Filling Station adjacent to Chowrongi Bazar, anticipating the arrival of a fuel tanker. The queue had formed well before the fuel delivery vehicle reached the station at around 4:30 pm. While most customers were waiting in line, Masud Rana was standing with his motorcycle near the entrance area rather than in the main queue.
Shortly after the fuel tanker arrived and dispensing preparations began, he suddenly became unwell, experienced dizziness, and collapsed on the spot. Bystanders quickly rushed to assist him and transported him by van to Khansama Upazila Health Complex in Pakherhat.
On arrival at the medical facility, the attending physician confirmed that he had already passed away.
