Mohammedan Sporting Club produced a record-breaking batting display in the final round of the Dhaka Premier Division Cricket League, overwhelming their arch-rivals Abahani Limited with an extraordinary total that rewrote the club’s history books and reshaped the derby narrative.
Entering the match with multiple qualification scenarios in play, Mohammedan Sporting Club knew that victory against Abahani was essential to keep their title ambitions alive. What followed was an innings of unprecedented dominance as they breached the 400-run barrier in List A cricket for the first time ever, eventually posting 406 for 4.
The foundation was laid by a monumental second-wicket partnership between two in-form batters. Enamul Haque Bijoy and Parvez Hossain Emon combined with remarkable fluency and aggression, adding 248 runs after the early dismissal of Naeem Sheikh. Their stand effectively dismantled the Abahani bowling attack and shifted the momentum decisively.
Emon struck a commanding 150 before falling, while Bijoy anchored the innings with a superb 141, departing shortly after the team crossed 330. Once the platform was set, the finishing flourish was provided by Afif Hossain, who tore into the death overs with a blistering 33-ball 61, ensuring Mohammedan surged past the 400 mark. Anisul Islam also contributed a rapid cameo of 30 from just 16 deliveries, reinforcing the late-innings acceleration.
| Batsman | Runs | Balls (if known) | Strike Impact |
|---|---|---|---|
| Parvez Hossain Emon | 150 | – | Anchoring century |
| Enamul Haque Bijoy | 141 | – | Stabilising century |
| Afif Hossain | 61 | 33 | Explosive finish |
| Anisul Islam | 30 | 16 | Late cameo |
| Team Total | 406/4 | 50 overs | Record-breaking |
The innings not only marked Mohammedan’s first-ever 400-plus total in List A cricket but also eclipsed their previous best of 348, set in 2023 against City Club. Against Abahani, it was also their highest-ever total in the fixture, surpassing the 339 they had achieved in 2017.
However, despite the historic nature of the performance, the broader Dhaka Premier League record remains untouched. Prime Bank Cricket Club’s mammoth 422 remains the highest total in the competition’s history, achieved earlier against Brothers Union in the 2025 season.
Even so, the focus for Mohammedan remains firmly on the title equation. Should results elsewhere fall in their favour, victory over Abahani could still secure them the coveted league crown, bringing added significance to an already landmark innings.
