A wave of false reports recently swept across social media, claiming that the renowned Bangladeshi singer Haydar Hossain had passed away. Numerous Facebook groups and pages, some even using the names of established media outlets, circulated fabricated photocard posts asserting his death. The news caused widespread concern among fans and followers, leaving many anxious and inundating the artist with calls and messages.
Speaking to clarify the situation, Hossain expressed his exasperation: “I haven’t been able to keep my phone down since the evening. So many people are calling… what a predicament I’ve found myself in! I am healthy and doing well.” He emphasised that such rumours are entirely false and described the circulation of misinformation about someone’s death as “completely inappropriate and unacceptable.”
The confusion prompted a flurry of activity among his audience, with fans attempting to confirm the singer’s wellbeing via calls and messages. It was only after Hossain himself addressed the claims that clarity was restored, and the unnecessary panic subsided.
Hossain has previously been in the public eye due to health concerns. He has a history of heart-related issues that have required medical intervention on multiple occasions. Most recently, in June 2022, he was hospitalised for heart complications, during which a stent was fitted to his heart. Earlier, in 2016, while residing in the United States, he suffered another cardiac episode and had two stents inserted. Despite these incidents, he continues to remain active and engaged in the music scene.
| Year | Health Incident | Medical Intervention | Location |
|---|---|---|---|
| 2016 | Cardiac attack | Two stents inserted | United States |
| 2022 | Heart complication | One stent inserted | Bangladesh |
Beyond his health struggles, Hossain has left an indelible mark on Bangladesh’s music industry. His iconic songs, such as “Ami Faisa Gechi” and “30 Bochor Poroo Ami Swadhinotake Khojchi”, continue to resonate with audiences, establishing him as a pivotal figure in the nation’s band music movement.
By publicly addressing the false reports, Hossain not only reassured his fans but also highlighted the dangers of spreading unverified information on social media—a cautionary reminder in today’s fast-paced digital age.
