A tragic accident claimed the life of a 15-year-old SSC examinee in Lohagara, Chattogram, on Wednesday. The incident occurred at approximately 11:30 am in front of Padua S I Chowdhury Girls’ High School.
The deceased has been identified as Sarabon Tahura, daughter of Mahfuzur Rahman, a Bangladeshi expatriate living in Saudi Arabia. Tahura was a student of the Science Department at Padua ACM High School and was scheduled to sit for her SSC examinations this year.
Eyewitnesses reported that a vendor had brought a black bull to Padua Tewarihat Market for sale. The bull was tied near the roadside. As Sarabon Tahura was walking past on her way to a coaching centre, the bull suddenly broke free from its rope and gored her with its horn. She fell onto a stack of bamboo beside the road, sustaining severe injuries to her face and head.
Local residents rushed her to the Upazila Health Complex, but doctors declared her dead upon arrival. Dr. Kishwara Sadia, an emergency physician at the hospital, told our representative, “Sarabon Tahura was brought here around noon. Unfortunately, she had already passed away before reaching the hospital. Her body was handed over to her family.”
The Officer-in-Charge of Lohagara Police Station, Abdul Jalil, confirmed that the police were dispatched to the scene immediately after receiving news of the accident. “An investigation is underway, and appropriate legal action will be taken,” he said.
This tragic event has deeply shocked the local community, highlighting the dangers of allowing large animals to roam in busy public areas. Residents and school authorities alike have called for stricter safety measures to prevent similar incidents in the future.
