The Iranian Red Crescent Society has reported extensive damage to civilian infrastructure across Iran amid ongoing military operations involving the United States and Israel. According to preliminary assessments by international disaster management agencies, nearly 20,000 civilian structures have sustained damage, highlighting the severe humanitarian impact of the conflict.

Official figures indicate that at least 19,734 buildings have been affected to varying degrees. These structures include hospitals, schools, and humanitarian aid centres, underscoring the widespread disruption to essential services and the daily lives of ordinary citizens.

The Red Crescent Society has confirmed that among the damaged buildings are 77 medical facilities and 65 educational institutions. In addition, 16 centres operated directly by the Red Crescent have also suffered considerable damage, hampering relief efforts at a critical time. Officials have emphasised that the destruction of such infrastructure poses long-term challenges for healthcare delivery, education continuity, and emergency support across affected regions.

Humanitarian observers have warned that the destruction extends beyond physical infrastructure. The loss of hospitals and medical centres compromises critical health services, particularly for vulnerable populations such as children, the elderly, and chronically ill patients. Similarly, the damage to schools and educational institutions threatens to interrupt the education of thousands of students, while the impact on aid centres could hinder the delivery of essential food, shelter, and medical supplies.

A Red Crescent spokesperson stated: “The attacks have not only destroyed buildings but have also disrupted the lives and livelihoods of countless people. International support is urgently needed to ensure relief and rehabilitation efforts can reach those most affected.”

In response to the destruction, the Red Crescent Society has initiated emergency relief operations, including the provision of temporary shelter, food supplies, and medical assistance to displaced families. International agencies and neighbouring countries have been called upon to contribute to recovery efforts, with hopes that collaborative support will accelerate the restoration of essential services and infrastructure.

The organisation emphasised that the current figures are preliminary and may rise as further assessments are conducted. Authorities continue to monitor the situation closely, warning that ongoing strikes could exacerbate humanitarian conditions and prolong the disruption to civilian life.
