Two more Bangladeshi pilgrims have died while performing the Hajj in Makkah, Saudi Arabia, bringing the total number of Bangladeshi deaths during the pilgrimage to nine this season. The information was confirmed on Tuesday (5 May) by the Bangladesh Hajj Office in Makkah.
The deceased have been identified as Md Nasir Uddin Biswas, a resident of Faridpur Sadar, and Mahfuza Begum, from Sadar Model, Chapainawabganj. With these latest fatalities, the total number of Bangladeshi pilgrims who have died in Saudi Arabia during the ongoing Hajj period now stands at nine. Among them, eight are men and one is a woman.
According to the Hajj Office, a total of 46,514 Bangladeshi pilgrims had arrived in Saudi Arabia by Tuesday morning to perform the Hajj rituals. These pilgrims travelled under both government and private management arrangements. Of them, 4,071 arrived under government management, while 42,443 reached Saudi Arabia through private arrangements. In total, pilgrims travelled via 118 flights operated for the Hajj season.
Alongside logistical arrangements for travel and accommodation, health and digital support services have also been provided for Bangladeshi pilgrims in Saudi Arabia. As of the latest update, 12,364 automated medical prescriptions have been issued through dedicated healthcare facilities established for pilgrims. In addition, the IT helpdesk has provided 11,055 support services to assist pilgrims with information, guidance, and technical assistance.
The data provided by the Hajj Office reflects the ongoing coordination efforts between Bangladeshi authorities and Saudi Hajj administration to manage the large-scale pilgrimage operation, which involves tens of thousands of citizens travelling abroad within a short operational period.
